This is the beginning of me starting my Halo project again, after a failed attempt last time with issues like school, my finger getting cut up, or mono. The project will consist of several halo-related artworks that will be my way of saying "Thank you Bungie, for three amazing games". I don't know how many pieces I plan to make, it might be 7 or more depending on how things go.
I wanted to remake the firebomb because I felt it was a good beginning to the project.Despite its lack of use in Matchmaking, the firebomb is loved and feared in custom games.
I know the model is not completely accurate, that is not my goal. My goal is to make it somewhat realistic and detailed interpretation of game elements, and I hope I have accomplished that. The model was made in 3dsmax, an image of the untextured verson can be seen here: [link] The Textures were painted in Photoshop, most details by hand but some subtle and random bumps were made using a texture from my microwave. I would have added details in Zbrush if my trial had not run out and I could afford it, haha. But I like the result and I hope all of you do too.
This was rendered in Maxwell, the glow is authentic beleive it or not. The emitter is the liquid behind the thin glass layer which has some smudging and scratches on it.
Thank you, Dan Gerstner
PS: Any halo players feel free to send me a friend request saying your from deviant or wherever you saw this.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
